Positive: Very clean and warm cabin. Very close to good hiking trails. Fresh towels. Clean linens. Good water. Open spaces. It was everything it said it would be.
Negative: I couldn’t book for one night. Only two. So the price was very high for a 1 night stay. I also paid more for a 2 hour advance check in.
A cabin in the woods by hiking trails is something my dog and I do together so the no pet rule is unfortunate and is why I couldn’t stay both nights.

Perfect location & the place was great
If you’re looking for private serenity indoors and out, this is it. The cabin is clean, cozy, and tucked out of the way but also close enough to main roads and a Dollar General for convenience items. Well-equipped with AC and hot water/shower, we really needed not one thing during our stay. Close to beautiful outdoor activities and parks, including Beaver Meadows which had a fantastic trail called Seldom Seen (which we hope to see again!). And our host, Amanda, was super responsive and helpful.
The ONE thing I would recommend is removing a fee for early check-in. Most hotels do it for free and give you more than a window longer than 2-hrs ahead of time.
Overall, the cabin was great and we hope to revisit!
All in all we really love our stay, we stay there again.

Negative: We had a little mouse in the kitchen area.

Basically a fully functional modern cabin, very secluded from other cabins, campsites or houses. Clean, pleasant and comfy porch + deck. Right up against forest, and a nearby creek.

Perfect for enjoying ANF. Very secluded and quiet yet nearby any outdoor activity possible. We stayed in 90 ‘ heat so appreciated the A/C and outdoor grill.
We were comfortable cooking sleeping and relaxing here. Very clean accommodation in a camping atmosphere!

Because you are in a national forrest area, be aware that you won’t see visible house numbers on Salmon Creek Rd and cabin is set back a lane out of view, but the views of nature and stars at night is fantastic and the spot is private.

Hard to find drive way
We were surprised when we walked in that we had a tv and internet. The cabin was spotless and so cozy. It was right in between Cooks forest and Tionesta. There is a nice restaurant in town called Kelly’s tavern. We had a lovely dinner and drinks there. Perfect short vacation.
Great stay. Other than the deadbolt on the front door not working (the door had an additional lock that did work perfectly fine) – the stay was great! Just as she described and perfect for a quick cabin weekend. Thanks!

A very private and peaceful spot in the middle of the woods never felt so good to stay at. Amanda was a very helpful and kind host that was very responsive to my questions and comments. I have no problem recommending this place, and as a first time user of the site, I picked a good place to start!
I picked this place because it was secluded on 30 acres. But you are also walking distance to the North Country Trail and surrounded by woods. It was so peaceful. The only noise is the occasional car or truck on the gravel road.
The only small thing was the lack of good cooking utensils and pans. The pans were pretty warn and the only spatula was metal (probably the reason the pans were scratched). I ended up buying a plastic spatula and leaving it for others to use. Otherwise there were plenty of plates and glasses, etc.
We are hikers and birdwatchers so this was a perfect little spot. Nothing fancy but nice enough and clean. We had a lovely time!

Was a beautiful secluded spot. Had a wonderful time exploring the forest. Everything was great. The only complaint is that the queen mattress is ready to be replaced.
Our winter booking at this cabin was fantastic! All of the amenities and utilities were exactly as described and ran into zero issues across a several days stay. The cabin is well maintained and modernized, without sacrificing the rustic feel. You can tell they’ve really cared for this place and that other guests have generally respected the property during their stays.
This is the kind of place you can totally relax at without hearing or seeing anyone else for hours or days at a time. I’ll definitely be booking a longer stay in the future.
Amanda was quick to respond to a couple of questions I had, and she made me feel welcomed and reassured. Some hosts treat you like a tourist (which you are, technically) or as if you are a nuisance. I prefer to minimize interrupting a host, but when things come up it is good to know they are there for you. Given my interactions with this host, I’d absolutely book with them again here or at one of their other properties.

One note on directions – Amanda’s directions are clear and really all you need. You can not see the house from the road and can miss the turn off easily. We were not paying attention and missed it the first time. No biggy.

Some friends and I wanted a getaway in the forest, and this place was great for that! We took a long day hike without getting in our car, and then came back to the cabin for food and a fire. It was a great place to stay for the weekend.

This is a gem in the woods. It is so quiet and peaceful. There was not one spider, which is surprising for the location. There was no musty smell, not even in the towels, which was also surprising. It was clean and cozy. We heard coyotes one day! The covered porch was awesome, had coffee there every morning. There is everything you need, and the owners are very quick to answer any questions. We can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely the perfect place if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! This cabin does however offer high-speed internet and although there is little cell phone reception, you can still make calls back to civilization via wifi calling.
The cabin itself is located in the Allegheny National Forest at the top of a private gravel road and is not visible from the adjoining gravel road. This was amazing! You can actually feel yourself leaving behind everyday stress as you drive up the entrance while being surrounded by nature.
The interior of the cabin was spotless and roomy. It included all the necessary features one would need. The bathroom was modern (which was a very nice surprise). The open concept living area made the space even more inviting.
Definitely worth more than one return visit.

I’ve now rented this home twice for fishing trips. It is a phenomenal location if you’re interested in anything like that.
I stayed at the cabin for a writing retreat. I was looking for a nice, secluded place out in the wilderness and this place was perfect. You are quite literally in a state park, with nothing but wilderness surrounding on all sides. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need. I hope to come back again sometime

Don’t be fooled by the reviews, this place was not worth the price!
Positive: We liked that the property was secluded in a very nice country setting.
Negative: When we walked in it was very outdated except for the add-on bathroom with towels that were worn, thin, old, and grey. The main living area was a combined kitchen, living room and dining room with old linoleum floors and we were not there for more than a few hours when we realized the place was infested with mice and not really as clean as the reviews touted. This property was way overpriced.

Overall the cabin was great for a couple's weekend getaway or a small family with young children. The location was within reasonable driving distance to hiking trails and other local attractions.
The location is not very well marked and we would not have found it in the dark. There is no sign to turn onto Salmon Creek Road and there is no sign to turn into the driveway leading up to the property which is hidden from the road. We had to call Amanda to find the cabin.
The bed in the room without the bunkbeds is not a queen size bed as listed but is rather a double/full-size bed that should be changed in the listing.
Also it should be noted that the bathroom which although nicely remodeled is not in the main cabin so it does not get air-conditioning and is very very hot in the summer.
For these reasons I cannot give it more than three stars for being worth the price.

We loved our weekend in the woods at Hemlock Haven. We had a lot of trouble finding the place as our GPS wouldn't recognize the address and it's not visible from the road. The gate threw us off as well because we weren't looking for a gated driveway, (and it was labeled a different number than the cabins address). I noticed this in others comments also, a simple fix would be a message before arrival included w the welcome/renters agreement messaging.
Once we found it, we loved its location! Beautifully tucked in the woods, secluded and peaceful- exactly what we wanted!
When we entered the adorable cabin, we found scented plug ins in the rooms which don't agree w allergic or sensitive skin situations. They smelled great but we had to remove them immediately. We also found some mice, we aren't new to the woods, but didn't expect or read anything to be on the lookout for traps or mice, one was still alive and one was ready for removal. We did have trouble w the grill, but Amanda & Michael responded immediately and fixed the tank for us to finish our planned dinners! The property was amazing but could use a few things to make the stay better; some throw blankets to cozy up in, accent pillows to watch tv with, some kitchen utensils to cook or grill with and some small furniture in bedrooms for a lamp or nightstand to place your glasses or phone. Besides these minor things, we loved our weekend getaway. We came to hike, cook, practice yoga and relax and we did just that!

We loved the location of this cabin. It's secluded, close to Cook Forest and the fall color was beautiful. The inside of the cabin left a little to be desired. It was weird that there were no nightstands with lamps in the bedroom, only an overhead light and with a specific note on the instructions to NOT move any furniture around. Also under the bed could use a good dusting! My allergies went crazy overnight. Absolutely no tissues or toiletries of any kind. I think this is the first host place we've stayed with not even shampoo - which we of course forgot this time! Finally, a $75 host fee and requiring we strip the beds and no toiletries whatsoever. I get dishes and trash but it's a little eye-rolly. I'm glad we got some time in the woods but I'm not dying to go back for $368 for two nights. Kitchen was well stocked and this would be a good place to bring kids since it has the bunkbeds in the other room!

Brilliant getaway for two. Place is hard to find and is a dirt/gravel path off the main road that isn't marked or easy to see. There's a brown bar that you need to move, but it's labeled "36A" not 339, which made me think it was the wrong place. When I finally got there, the code didn't work and started alarming. Amanda was responsive for both issues which were quickly resolved. The place was clean. There's only one window A/C which is in the living room, so if you want the bedrooms cool, you'll need to leave the doors wide open. Not a problem on a weekend for two. Or was beautiful, quiet, and so peaceful. Camping feel with home amenities. Would stay again if I was ever out that way.

Amanda's place was very secluded. We did not see another soul, just heard cars as they drove by to some camping sites much farther down the dead-end road. I'm not sure if there was another house on the road, which is exactly what we were looking for.
Being so close to a trailhead on the North Country Trail was also a positive.
Note: The cookware was bare bones, very small, and past its useful life so if you're planning on doing a lot of cooking, you will want to bring your own pots/pans, chef's knife.

It was a beautiful cabin with tons of privacy….accurately described. No weird odors. Love how the bathroom was kinda separate from main house. Would stay there again! If you need a getaway to peace and quiet this is it!!

This is a gem in the woods. It is so quiet and peaceful. There was not one spider, which is surprising for the location. There was no musty smell, not even in the towels, which was also surprising. It was clean and cozy. We heard coyotes one day! The covered porch was awesome, had coffee there every morning. There is everything you need, and the owners are very quick to answer any questions. We can't wait to go back.

Absolutely the perfect place if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! This cabin does however offer high-speed internet and although there is little cell phone reception, you can still make calls back to civilization via wifi calling.
The cabin itself is located in the Allegheny National Forest at the top of a private gravel road and is not visible from the adjoining gravel road. This was amazing! You can actually feel yourself leaving behind everyday stress as you drive up the entrance while being surrounded by nature.
The interior of the cabin was spotless and roomy. It included all the necessary features one would need. The bathroom was modern (which was a very nice surprise). The open concept living area made the space even more inviting.
Definitely worth more than one return visit.

I stayed at the cabin for a writing retreat. I was looking for a nice, secluded place out in the wilderness and this place was perfect. You are quite literally in a state park, with nothing but wilderness surrounding on all sides. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need. I hope to come back again sometime
